With a new season ahead, the Plants for Plants® LIFE project has started with a full program of trials for 2021. After the successful results of trials in 2020, where 22 out of 24 showed positive outcomes, we scale up the Plants for Plants® program with more than 100 demonstration trial fields planned in Europe this season.
Together with 26 international partners, we will conduct 108 trials in 17 countries to show the efficiency of Plants for Plants® biostimulants on Nutrient Use Efficiency (NUE), and Water Use Efficiency (WUE) to local growers.
At present, a total of 102 trials are ongoing in nearly 450 Ha across Europe. This year, we are testing LL002 and LL004 solutions on stone fruits, pip fruits, citrus, olive, vegetables, arable crops, vineyards, table grapes, and industrial crops. By bringing more diversity to the trial program, we intend to demonstrate the performance of Plants for Plants® solutions on a large range of crops.
Deep frosts in Europe affect severely over ten P4P demonstration trials
Due to a sudden cold snap, some of the Plants for Plants® demonstration trials planned in Europe for 2021 are in danger. This sudden big freeze hit Europe at the beginning of April with dramatic consequences for fruit and vegetable crops. After three nights of sub-zero temperatures, the deep frosts destroyed buds in many orchards and vineyards in France, Italy, Greece, and Spain.
Farmers in these countries have been hit particularly hard with unprecedented record yield loss. A number of our trials have been affected by this cold weather. For this reason, we estimate these testing areas will be lost.
P4P demonstration trials around the world
For the first time, and after echoes of the successful previous campaign, Van Iperen International join forces with local distributors out of Europe to demonstrate P4P solutions in Turkey, Egypt, China, Australia, Iraq, Lebanon, and Qatar. With this large number of trial fields in different climate conditions, Van Iperen International aims to demonstrate the positive impact of P4P solutions on the increase of yield, the efficiency of Nutrients and water, among others, adapted to the local conditions.
In a time when agriculture needs are rapidly changing due to climate change, Plants for Plants® solutions become a real alternative for growers who demand effective organic fertilizers to maximize yield without compromising quality.
