Our latest episode of the voice of growers features Giorgos Mastrou, a grower from the Kokkinochoria region of Cyprus. Farming in this area comes with working under challenging growing conditions. That is why Giorgos integrated Van Iperen’s solutions to support crop development, improve Water Use Efficiency (WUE), and increase his yields.
As a grower of potatoes, onions, carrots, and cabbage, Giorgos Mastrou shares the same priorities as many other growers in Cyprus: managing high soil pH and limited water availability, both of which restrict nutrient uptake, affect crop development, and reduce yields. To overcome these local growing conditions, Giorgos partnered with LG Agricultural to integrate Van Iperen International’s biostimulants: IPE® Technology and Plants for Plants® into his crop nutrition.
Supporting crop development with IPE® Technology
For his potato and carrot crops, Giorgos applies IPE® Liquid 3-9-0+Zn together with Plants for Plants® 4-Terra. He begins the programme after sprouting, during early leaf development, and makes two applications. According to Giorgos, this approach supports crop development and delivers excellent results. Later in the season, approximately one month before harvesting, Giorgos applies Plants for Plants® 4-Vita. This application supports plant longevity and improves Water Use Efficiency (WUE), helping his crops perform more effectively under limited water availability.
