There are many options to add Iron to your crop. The most efficient way is chelated Iron for its stability, availability for the plant and its easiness to use. But choosing among the different solutions can be a challenge. How to choose? We can help you!

Which chelate suits you best?

Chelates can stimulate the growth of your crop. Which chelate to choose depends on your mode of application. For foliar application you can choose between EDTA and IDHA. EDTA can also be used for open field fertigation in case of soils up to a pH of 6. For open field fertigation in alkaline soils you can choose between EDDHA and HBED. For high-tech soilless greenhouse, DTPA is your best choice.

The different solutions available

EDDHA is a chelate that protects Iron against precipitation up to a pH of 9. The stability constant of the Iperen Iron-EDDHA depends on the isomer composition. The higher the percentage of ortho-ortho in comparison to ortho-para or para-para , the higherthe availability of Iron is.

Within the Iperen EDDHA range of products, the ortho-ortho percentages differ. Our top grade quality contains an ortho-ortho content of 4.8%. The figures mentioned are guaranteed figures, not typical. Iperen Iron-EDDHA products are microgranulated, dust free products.

HBED is a chelate that protects Iron against precipitation up to a pH of 12. HBED is a concentrated product. HBED is less sensitive for UV-radiation and keeps Iron available for the plant also under extremesunny conditions. HBED has a limited affinity to Copper. Therefore Iron is hardly exchanged in the chelate by Copper when Iron-HBED is applied. Another explanation of the long lasting effect of an Iron-HBED application.

This long lasting effect makes Iron-HBED the ideal product for fertigation in open field with alkaline soil conditions.

The HBED chelating agent has limited effect on the performance of a UV-sterilizer which makes it also a perfect product for high-tech soilless systems with recirculation.

The range of Oligo Iron-HBED products is developed to overcome and cure Iron deficiencies via fertigation or soil injection in alkaline conditions and in high-tech soilless systems. If you are looking for the best product to overcome or cure Iron deficiency in alkaline conditions, the Iperen Iron-HBED range is your choice!

EDTA is a chelate that protects Iron against precipitation up to a pH of 6.0. The stability constant of EDTA is moderate. The products in the Iperen EDTA product range are microgranulated with a unique and patented process. The process guarantees a raspberry-shaped, uniform and dust free microgranule. This structure increases the contact surface with water while diluting. The result is a highly soluble product.

In addition to single-element EDTA chelated Micronutrients in soluble form, Van Iperen offers physical mixes (blends) and compounds (chemical mixes).

The blends of the EDTA chelated Micronutrients are homogeneous due to the uniform raspberry-shaped structure of the individual products. This makes the Iperen EDTA blends ideal as a raw material in WS NPK’s for fertigation and foliar application.Additionally Van Iperen also offers liquid single-element EDTA chelated Micronutrients or liquid mixes.

IDHA is a chelate that protects Iron against precipitation up to a pH of 6.0.The stability constant of IDHA is moderate. IDHA is also friendly for the environment, it is fully biodegradable according to the OECD regulations (OECD 301E 78% after 28 days | OECD 302B 89% after 28 days).

The products in the Iperen IDHA product range are microgranulated with a unique and patented process. The process guarantees a raspberry-shaped, uniform and dust free microgranule. This structure increases the contact surface with water while diluting. The result is a highly soluble product.

In addition to single-element IDHA chelated micro nutrients in soluble form, Van Iperen offers physical mixes (blends) and compounds (chemical mixes). The blends of the IDHA chelated Micronutrients are homogeneous due to the uniform raspberry-shaped structure of the individual products.

DTPA is a chelate that protects Iron against precipitation up to a pH of 7. The stability constant of Iperen Iron-DTPA is moderate to high. The slightly larger pH range in combination with the high stability constant makes this product ideal for high-tech soilless hydroponics.

Like HBED, the DTPA chelating agent has limited effect on the performance of a UV-sterilizer. This in contrary to EDDHA and EDTA. On top of that, the pH in hydroponics is often between 6.5 and 7.0. In this range Iron-EDTA is no longer sufficient, where Iron-DTPA still is. This makes Iron-DTPA more suitable for application in high-tech hydroponics than Iron-EDTA.

The soluble products in the Iperen Iron-DTPA product range are microgranulated with a unique and patented process. The process guarantees a raspberry-shaped, uniform and dust free microgranule. This structure increases the contact surface with water while diluting. The result is a highly soluble product. Within the range we also have different liquid products available.

Our Iron chelates in the spotlight
