硝酸钙：最好的钙与氮来源

硝酸钙的优势在于其中的氮是以硝态氮（N-NO3）的形态存在。比起铵态氮（N-NH4）或脲态氮（N-NH2），硝态氮对植物生长更有益处。

铵态氮会降低栽种基质的pH值，浓度高时对植物具有毒性。脲态氮则无法被植物直接吸收，必须先转化为铵。

而硝态氮是唯一对钙具有协同效应的氮来源，能够促进钙吸收。因此硝酸钙能够帮助植物细胞壁发育，进而提高果实品质和保质期。最后硝酸钙还能减少番茄和甜椒等作物的脐腐病以及叶菜类的叶尖坏死情况。
